This is a space to express my dedication to elevating educational standards and promoting equitable access to resources. I am driven by the belief that every student deserves a chance to thrive and succeed.
CAMPAIGN MISSION
Dear Residents of District #6 of the Milwaukee School Board
My name is Mimi Reza, and I am running for the MPS Board of Directors to represent District #6, located in the near south side of Milwaukee. This district is home to one of the most economically underserved areas of the city, but also to schools that are facing overcapacity—an issue not as prevalent in other parts of the city. Despite these challenges, our bilingual education programs have flourished, offering a model for success where bilingualism is integrated into learning. It is my belief that bilingualism should be seen as a strength, not a challenge, and should be supported across all schools in Milwaukee.
This past year, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) has faced significant financial difficulties, some stemming from internal management issues, and others from the severe underfunding of public education by the state of Wisconsin. Special education and bilingual education—two essential components of our school system—have been especially impacted by this lack of funding. These programs are vital to the success and well-being of many students and their families, and it is critical that we change this course.
But in addition to wanting an MPS that handles better its finances and its educational offerings, I am running because all children deserve the best support and vision possible, and I assure you that I can bring that passion and commitment to the board. My priorities can be summarized as follows:
(1) I will join those who want a well-funded public education and adequate resources for MPS, its students, parents, and staff.
(2) I am running because District #6 must continue to have a person that fully supports its students, parents and community, and which is totally committed to the maintenance and growth of its quality bilingual programs. I envision a school system where all students, regardless of language, feel comfortable and supported in maintaining and developing their bilingualism. And I want to work hard to extend bilingualism to all children in the city via the increase of dual language bilingual education.
(3) I am running because I wish to join the voices of those who advocate for quality special education. I want students to feel that MPS is doing everything possible, financially and educationally, to provide them with a quality and equitable education, regardless of their disability.
(4) I am running in District #6 to advocate for quality education for all Latino students, who are the greatest majority in the area. But in the process, I will strongly advocate for quality learning for all students in Milwaukee.
Together, we can ensure that MPS provides an education that empowers every student, supports every family, and strengthens our community. I ask for your support as we work toward a brighter future for all.

Queridos residentes del Distrito #6 de la Junta Escolar de Milwaukee,
Mi nombre es Mimi Reza, y estoy corriendo para la Junta Directriz de las Escuelas Públicas de Milwaukee (MPS) en representación del Distrito #6, localizado en el lado sur cercano de la ciudad. Este distrito es una de las áreas económicamente más desatendidas de la ciudad, y también de las escuelas que enfrentan sobrecapacidad –una situación no común en otros lugares de la ciudad. A pesar de estos retos, nuestros programas bilingües han florecido, ofreciendo un modelo para el éxito cuando se integra el bilingüismo al aprendizaje. Creo que el bilingüismo debe verse como una fuerza, no un reto, y debería recibir apoyo e implementarse en todas las escuelas de Milwaukee.
En el año pasado MPS se ha enfrentado a unas dificultades financieras significativas. Algunas son resultado de fallas administrativas internas; otras, a consecuencia del fracaso y descuido del financiamiento de la educación pública en el estado de Wisconsin. La Educación Especial y la Educación Bilingüe han sido negativamente impactadas. No reciben ayuda financiera suficiente. Estos programas son vitales para el éxito y bienestar de muchos estudiantes y sus familias, y es crítico que cambiemos esta situación.
Pero además de asegurarse de que haya un MPS que maneja mejor su estado financiero y los programas que ofrece, yo me ofrezco de candidata porque todos los estudiantes merecen el máximo apoyo. Yo ofrezco una nueva visión, y les aseguro que traeré a la Junta de Educación mucha pasión y entrega total. Mis prioridades se pueden resumir como sigue:
(1) Me uniré a aquellos que buscan un sistema de escuelas públicas bien financiadas y con recursos suficientes para MPS, sus estudiantes, familias y personal docente y educativo.
(2) Estoy en esta campaña porque el Distrito #6 debe tener buena representación comprometida con la mejora de todos, y que luchará por mantener el crecimiento y la calidad de los programas bilingües. Es mi visión que todos los estudiantes, no importa el origen de su lenguaje o etnicidad, se sientan cómodos y libres de desarrollar su bilingüismo. Y quiero asegurar un bilingüismo para todos los estudiantes en MPS a través del aumento en las escuelas que ofrecen un bilingüismo dual o multivariado.
(3) Lanzo mi campaña para el Distrito #6 porque quiero unirme a las voces de aquellos que abogan por una buena Educación Especial. Quiero asegurarme de que los estudiantes de MPS sientan y sepan que se está haciendo lo mejor posible, financiera y educacionalmente, para garantizar la calidad y equidad, no importa su condición de discapacidad.
(4) Busco representarlos en el Distrito #6 para abogar por una educación cualitativa para todos los estudiantes Latinos, que ya son mayoría en este distrito escolar. En el proceso, voy a abogar por una educación cualitativa para todos los estudiantes de MPS.
Juntos, nos aseguraremos de que MPS ofrezca una educación que empodere a cada estudiante, que apoye a todas las familias, y que fortalezca a nuestra comunidad. Pido, por favor, su apoyo para que trabajemos juntos hacia un futuro más luminoso para todos.
